Our Musical Journey

Stood On The Wire is a dynamic 50s and 60s duo performing Rock'n'Roll and a bit of Motown along with other classics, and well known hits from the golden age of music. With an authentic full-band sound, they create an unforgettable experience filled with energy and passion.
Stood On The Wire is comprised of Andy and Frankie. Andy plays lead guitar and sings the faster rockier numbers such as by Little Richard or Jerry Lee Lewis. Frankie is the main singer, but also plays keyboard, and on some numbers bass guitar. On top of this there is a backing track, but it is not your average backing track! Andy creates the tracks himself. A drum machine is meticulously programmed beat by beat to sound as near to a real drummer as possible. Then Andy will play the rhythm and bass, as required, recording it all to a very high standard. The beauty of this is a full band sound for less money and less arguments within the Duo. The results speak for themselves. Both have been around music for many years in various guises.
Lead Guitarist and Vocalist
Five years ago Andy came back to music after a break of 18 years.
He started playing at 13 years old, taught by his father, an ex sixties guitarist, was inspired by Hank Marvin and Chuck Berry. At the age of 14 He joined an old time band called the York Showband, formally the Ted Levitt show band. They probably performed at every care home in York and some further a field for a number of years. The old time music gave him an excellent grounding in unusual and rapid chord progressions.
Soon after he also joined a trio called Bruce Elder & The Country Crew, playing primarily country and Western but also, what was known as, middle of the road. The popular trio played all over the North of England. This was alongside the York Showband.
At times he also sat in with the Jay Cee Trio, a dance band performing a Rufforth Village Hall.
After stopping music for a year Andy answered an add in the local paper and helped form a duo called senora, soon changed to Rockabilly. Rockabilly, also a popular duo, performed a mixture of country and rock & roll in pubs and working man's clubs around York and surrounding areas, but also as far a field as Morecombe Raiders, Bridlington Spa, Whalesby Country Festival, and anywhere inbetween.
Fast forward 18 years and after auditioning a number of singers who weren't suitable or weren't interested he found Frankie.
Main Vocalist and Keyboard Player
Frankie is the main singer who was classically trained when she was younger, she has a crisp clean mezzo soprano voice, but is versatile and able to tackle any song and make it her own.
Frankie then spent many years teaching music in secondary schools, latterly at a private school. At one time she even taught music to a world famous superstar.....in South Shields of all places!
Frankie also spent a number of years singing in care homes.
